The Montana Public Service Commission has approved a merger between CenturyLink and Qwest Communications, mandating that the two companies must put $10 million into broadband infrastructure in the state over five years.
The PSC’s approval included an in-depth review of the merger and an agreement on “public interest benefits” reached with the Montana Consumer Council, the state’s Department of Administration and several competing carriers, CenturyLink said in a written statement.
The merger is expected to be finished early next year.
