The Associated Press is reporting that some of the country’s biggest cable companies are interested in buying Bresnan Communications.
The interested companies reportedly include Cablevision Systems Corp., Charter Communication Inc., Ascent Media, Suddenlink Communications and TPG Capital.
Bresnan, based in Purchase, N.Y., is owned by the private equity firm Providence Equity Partners.
Reuters says the seven received bids were for more than $1 billion, though the exact amount is private. Both the AP and Reuters stories are based on anonymous sources close to the deal.
